What is meant by to be in the English language are: is, am, are, was, were, be, been, and being

To be is often translated into the Indonesian language to mean there is, is. However, in certain sentence patterns, to be no meaning at all (meaningless).

2. Characterization To Be

a. Time-based events.
Based on the time it happened, is, am, are always used in the form of sentences present tense, and was, selalau were used in a sentence in past tense.

b. Based on the subject of the sentence
Based on the subject of the sentence, is, was used for he, she, and it, while the are and were used to we, you, and they. Especially for I am to use the present tense, and were for the past tense.

Sample sentence:

1. I am student.
2. He is nurse.
3. She is a student.
4. Mr. Kasman is teacher.
5. Last week my mother was in Bandung.
